The Survey Interviewer qualification was registered by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) on 18 November 2015!
What happens now?
- Training: The Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) will accredit training providers who wish to train interviewers, against the registered qualification.
- Assessment of interviewer competence: As the Assessment Quality Partner for the qualification, SAMRA is in charge of conducting national assessments for the qualification, to recommend to the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations who should and should not be given the qualification. The Quality Council for Trades and Occupations will then issue successful interviewers with a national qualification (i.e. an Occupational Certificate). SAMRA will be setting up the national assessments shortly, and we hope that the first interviewers will qualify in 2016!
- SAMRA Interviewer Accreditation: To start off with, SAMRA will accredit interviewers who successfully complete the assessment with or without them attending a training course, so that we can recognise interviewer competence in cases where they have already achieved what is required through experience. We are planning to be ready for that early next year – I will keep you posted! Once accredited, the interviewers will be added to a SAMRA Accredited Interviewer Database (and will automatically become SAMRA members as well), and SAMRA Organisation members will then be able to send requests for quotes/briefings to the accredited interviewers.
There is still a lot of work to be done to make sure all of the above works, but we are one step closer!
