Directors

Chair – Prof Adré Schreuder

  • Completed both junior Degrees (B Com & B Com Hons) cum laude at University of Pretoria.
  • Started career as Marketing Assistant at Dept Post and Telecommunications in 1985.
  • Two years of compulsory Military service in SANDF finished as Lieutenant at Army Head Quarters in Pretoria.
  • Appointed as Marketing Lecturer in Dept of Business Management in 1988 & completed M Com (Marketing) cum laude 1989 & promoted to Senior lecturer.
  • Founded Consulta as a close Corporation with two colleagues in 1988 with the objective to do marketing research consulting whilst lecturing.
  • Moved to RAU (University of Johannesburg) in 1990 as Senior Lecturer to start the B Com Marketing degree with 3 other colleagues.
  • Completed D Com degree in 1992 and was promoted to Assistant Professor of Marketing at the end of 1992.
  • Appointed as Chair of Marketing Training at Tukkies in 1994 as full professor.
  • Lecturer as specialist in Marketing Research, Research Methodology & Services Marketing.
  • Appointed as Head of Dept Marketing & Communication Management in 1996.
  • Finalized a share deal with the campus company of the University of Pretoria – Business Enterprises (Pty) Ltd at the end of 1999 which entailed resignation as Head of Dept, being awarded the position of Extra-ordinary Professor of Marketing and taking office as CEO of Consulta Research (Pty) Ltd in a full time capacity from July 2000.
  • Published 30 articles in academic journals, course proceedings of national and international conferences & 4 chapter contributions to marketing & business text books
  • Adré serves as non-executive director on several other Boards of Directors
  • Serves as Chair of SAMRA for the term Sep 2011 to August 2012

 

Chair Elect – Jan Wegelin

17 years research experience:

  • Coder and fieldworker at HSRC from 1994 to 1996.
  • Project Manager at MarkData 1996-1998, focussed on social and political research
  • Project Manager on an ad hoc UNISA Department of Psychology survey on internal and external locus of control, an adopted methodology used in the USA
  • Research Executive at MarkData up to 2001 before joining a telephone research house NGM Research in Waterford, Ireland as Production Manager
  • Global Field Manager at WirthlinEurope in Manchester, UK. Looking after all European, Middle East and African projects with a consumer and business research project focus
  • Joined Synovate in 2007 as Research Manager covering a broad range of sectors in tracking and ad hoc consumer research projects
  • Moved to BMI Research in 2010 as Research Manager, a business to business research firm
  • The broad range of research scope and regional exposure has been hugely beneficial in building a strong research platform
  • Qualifications: Sociology Hons the University of Pretoria, 2005; Statistics for non-statisticians, SPSS, Dublin, Ireland, 2001; Marketing and Marketing Research Diploma from UNISA, 1996

 

Immediate Past Chair - Elsa Thirion-Venter

26 years research experience:

  • Starting off as traffic researcher at the HSRC in 1984 inter alia compiling tests for learner licences, trained as a Traffic Psychologist in Germany.
  • Survey Manager at MarkData 1991-1993
  • SABC: Research Manager: Television and later on Research Manager: Special Projects 1993-1996.
  • In 1996 moved back to MarkData as a director.
  • Qualifications: MA Psychology from the University of Pretoria, 1991, MBA from UNISA, 1999, Higher Diploma in Speech Training.  Enrolled for Doctorate in Consulting Psychology at Unisa.
  • SAMRA Accredited Researcher.
  • Registered as a Research Psychologist at the Health Professions Council.
  • Lectured Marketing Research at the Graduate School of Business in 2002.
  • A facilitator in Statistics and Economics from 2002-2006 for the University of North West’s distance MBA course in Pretoria.
  • Co-ordinator of the Media Module in 2010 and 2011 at the University of Pretoria for Research Psychology Master students.
  • Lectured Statistics in 2010 at the University of Pretoria for Research Psychology Master students.
  • Lectured Design Psychology in 2011 at the University of Pretoria for Research Psychology Master students.
  • Supervisor of Research Psychology Interns as well as Research Supervisor for masters students.
