Meet the Panel

Karin Du Chenne is Chief Client Officer, Consumer Insights at Kantar, working with Africa Middle East market CEOs to design, implement and drive strategy that builds strong strategic relationships with clients in order to increase clients’ level of satisfaction. She was based in Istanbul, Turkey for two years in the role of Regional Client Development Director Africa Mediterranean Middle East for TNS. Karin started her research career with the then Research Surveys in 1992, and has held various positions at Research Surveys including Managing Director for 6 years when it became TNS Research Surveys, and CEO when it became TNS South Africa. Karin holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of the Witwatersrand, where she majored in Marketing and Business Economics.

Mamapudi Nkgadima is Managing Director of African Response. She has more than 25 years’ experience in market and social research as a user and supplier. Mamapudi is a marketeer, turned researcher with an entrepreneurial flair. She founded and managed a successful strategic marketing and research agency for more than 7 years, prior to joining African Response in 2010 as the Managing Director. For more than 13 years, Mamapudi worked across a number of multinational and blue chip companies such as Liberty Life, Unilever, Danone, SCJohnson, Academy for Educational Development, Standard Bank and Century in the roles of brand management, marketing management, head of marketing and customer strategist. Mamapudi has an MBL from UNISA, a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from the University of the Witwatersrand, and a Bachelor of Social Science from the University of Cape Town.
Dr Henk Pretorius is CEO and co-founder of Columinate, a digital research company in South Africa. He does, teaches, writes and talks about marketing and psychological research. His current role involves strategically leading the expansion of Columinate, consulting on key client projects and developing proprietary research tools in their R&D function. Henk holds a PhD in cognitive psychology and lectures in research methods at postgraduate level. In 2014 he was featured in Survey Magazine as one 20 “Researchers you should know” from across the world, in the category Future Leader. He is a frequent conference speaker and is regularly quoted in various media sources, either in-person or through his writing, including SABC TV News, CNBC Africa, YFM, Classic FM, 702, Destiny Man, The New Age and Times Live.
