The ESOMAR Foundation awarded its first post-graduate scholarship in South Africa, to Nicolin Mamuya. The scholarship award was announced at the SAMRA Annual Conference Awards Dinner, held on 12 May 2016 at Velmore Hotel Estate in Erasmia, Centurion, South Africa. The scholarship was awarded after a careful evaluation of the motivational and socio-economic background of the applicants from an independent jury composed of experts from the market research industry.
Nicolin is a young Tanzanian woman living in South Africa, and studying at the University of Johannesburg towards a B. Com (Marketing Management). She is planning to do her Honours degree in Marketing Management in 2017. She is part of a group called Unique Women, with the purpose of inspiring women all over Africa to achieve greatness. Her aspiration in life is to be a strong, successful and influential woman, that others can look up to and admire, yet can relate to. Nicolin also plans to open a Jazz restaurant that offers a taste into the world of Jazz and stand-up comedy, involving upcoming artists and comics! The ESOMAR Foundation scholarship is sponsored by SSI and is awarded in collaboration with SAMRA. The ESOMAR Foundation’s education programme, under which the scholarship falls, aims to give financial support to individual students from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds with an interest in pursuing a career in market research.
